This horrible experienced occurred at approximately 10am on Sun 03 Feb 19. My wife was dropping off a stray dog after taking me to work for disaster relief tasks (how I wish I was with my wife then). After pre-warning of our arrival to the vet, my wife had taken this stray dog inside the waiting area. Immediately, the lady asks my wife to "please wait outside". The usual reaction is to be obedient thinking it would only be a short period of time. This period of waiting extended out to 10 minutes outside with major rainfall and winds (Townsville is a disaster zone I might add). At no time did the woman ever provide justification as to why she wanted my wife to be outside and therefore treated my wife like a second class citizen. At this time, approximately 8 people stared stared at my wife with a sense of shock as to how my wife was treated. Thankfully, a couple were nice enough to assist my wife with the dog and agreed to take the dog in with them and deal with the issue while my wife and two toddlers try to get back home.Unfortunately I do not believe my words give justice to the amount of disrespect and poor communicaton my wife received by this JCU Vet representative (likely a Receptionist or Vet Nurse). However, I would like to amplify some points:- Noone deserves to be left outside a waiting area when they have only shown good faith in rescuing a stray dog. This factually occurred, no self-serving excuse or response from management can justify this action.- Noone deserves to be left outside for that duration (10 minutes) without an adequate justification.- The Management responded to my wife on the phone and made some apologies. I would to point out however, the managers comments like "I will need to hear her side of the story" as incredibly disappointing. Firstly, you are the manager and if you are worth your weight as a manager then you would ascertain and accept the facts as they are, before speaking to my wife. I'd probably recommend speaking to the customers who took on Blue (the stray dog) and seek their opinion on the customer service of your employee at the front desk at the time. This extreme weather brings out the best and the worst in us. That was a classic example of this weather bringing out the worse. Also, the manager did not even provide an update as to whether Blue got back to his family. The couple did though :)
A great service with great advice and very kind and nurturing staff. Thankyou for taking the time to check on abd help our special little guy.
Ingrid at JCU is our only avian vet in town, so JCU vet is the only vet I go to for bird related things. They are always super friendly, and happy to work around things. Have been lifesavers a few times ;)
When our beloved Jezibell passed away at home the nurse that helped was great ty.
Always helpful when needing to get a lost dog checked for a micro chip. Will hold the dog overnight too if you can't.
